I've never been one to stay the same, but on the outside, it might look like I do.
My mind is always buzzing with ideas, jumping from one to the next. I haven't always been able to share these ideas openly. Welcome to my journey of embracing all of ME.
It wasn't until TikTok came along (which is now being banned in the USA) that I found the courage to open up and share parts of myself I couldn't before. Thousands of people on TikTok encouraged me to be unapologetically me! I sold more artwork in a year on TikTok than I did in over seven years on Facebook and Instagram trying to sell art.
My artwork has evolved over the years, and now I choose techniques and mediums that fit my specific desires.
Thanks to TikTok, my freedom of expression is no longer held back.
Growing up in a community that frowned on "edgy" or "controversial" topics, I learned to play it safe with my art. I still enjoyed it, but something always felt missing. Everyone seemed to want the same things, wear the same clothes, drive the same cars, ask the same questions. Drawing the iconic lighthouse was fun, but every artist within 50 miles was doing it! The classic countryside farm scenes with weathered barns and fences were great too... But I felt like an artist in a crowded pool doing the same routine.
So what's my point? Well, I'm bringing this webpage back to life out of necessity. With TikTok being banned, I lost a place where I felt comfortable. So I'm hoping this page will gain some traction as I take it into my "Unapologetic world" and share all the art and creativity I create.
Hope you enjoy it,
Much love,
Michelle S Martin
